Resources are one of the most valuable commodities in a business. But making good use of your company’s resources is no easy task. Resource capacity planning, availability monitoring, and costs tracking are just a few of the business management requirements that demand your constant attention. The Resource application area enables you to optimize the effectiveness of your personnel and equipment resources as well as increase your company’s efficiency through improved resource monitoring and capacity planning. By accurately monitoring the cost and usage of your resources, you can improve your resource management and gain better insight into your company’s overall resource capacities. The Resource application area also allows you to use flexible pricing models – making it easy for you to invoice through the Sales & Receivables application area or record costs in Jobs. Track Resource Costs and UsageThe Resource application area includes a resource table, a resource ledger and a resource journal for recording transactions. When integrated with Sales & Receivables and Jobs, the Resource application area also provides fully integrated job costing, timing, and billing functionality. Since a resource can be classified as a person, equipment or a facility, Microsoft Navision also lets you set up specific costs and sales prices for each resource to track usage and sales in the Resource ledgers. Plan Capacity and Predict AvailabilityCapacity management facilities let you assign capacities to resources, resource groups, or both. When the Resource application area is integrated with Jobs, resources can be allocated to job budgets for providing complete capacity planning on an hourly basis. Tools for reallocating jobs to different resources and resource groups allow for a detailed resource plan, while availability windows show how a capacity is allocated to active job orders and what has been allocated for potential orders (budgets/estimates). Assign Resources Alternative PricesAs with Multiple Sales Prices in the Inventory application area, you can assign alternative prices to resources according to customer and job type. When resources perform different types of work, different prices can be assigned to each type. Prices can also be defined in multiple currencies. Assign Alternative Costs for Work TypesAs with prices, alternative costs for resources can be assigned depending on the job type. When resources perform different types of work, different costs can be assigned to each type of work. The costs are used in budgets/estimates as well as in sales invoicing and usage recording. |
